Patrick Capurro - Secretary

Patrick Alan Capurro was elected Secretary of IFAFA in 2007, having been an IFAFA member since 1995 when he attended his first conference at the age of 13. Patrick has served on the Board of Directors since 2006. He has assisted in teaching dance workshops at IFAFA Conferences since 1999 and assisted with the organization of the 2002 IFAFA Conference in San Francisco, CA.

Patrick grew up with the San Francisco Bay Area dance troupe, Il Quartiere Italiano (IQI), as his extended family and began dancing with the troupe at the age of 12. He danced with IQI for six years prior to moving to Chicago, IL, to attend Columbia College. He holds a BA degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in musical theater.

For eight years, Patrick worked at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre on Navy Pier, as well as other not-for-profit theater companies. At Chicago Shakespeare, he supervised the box office, overseeing ticket subscription services, handling cash flow and accounting, and training new employees. With other Chicago theater companies, he has served as Assistant Director and Dramaturge for a variety of productions. He currently works for Groupon in Customer Services. 

Patrick is also very involved in national and local civil rights organizations and is planning to further his education in law school to enter the field of Civil Rights Law.
