Annually (or occasionally bi-annually), there is a conference of the Italian Folk Art Federation of America. It is an exhilarating gathering where hearts and minds are joined in a truly sharing experience. There are dance and song workshops, costume and instrument exhibitions, demonstrations, lectures, and guest speakers and artists. All conference sessions are focused on various aspects of the Italian folk arts. It is a gathering that brings together people who share the common goal of keeping Italian folk heritage vibrant and growing in America. One does not have to be Italian to participate. The only requirement is a passion for the Italian folk arts!
The 2009 IFAFA Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, had some great workshops and performances!
There will be no conference in 2010, but the 2011 IFAFA Conference will be hosted by Cuor d'Italia Folk Troupe of Hartford, Connecticut. More information will be forthcoming.
